The ‘Church House’

Those present for worship the last two Sundays are well aware that we have been dealing with a major building issue. The old cooling system reached the end of its service life, but, thankfully, it got us through Easter Sunday before failing. We have been fortunate to experience some milder temperatures over the last couple of weeks making the weekday and Sunday activities a little more comfortable; however, for those in the building everyday it is a matter of enduring this situation. Everyone has been very patient, though, perhaps realizing the scope of this project. We are nearing the completion of this repair, but we will be without cooling one more Sunday. The contractor feels confident that by Wednesday of next week the cooling system will be operational and we can return to a more manageable routine. Efforts have been made to communicate to everyone that replacing this equipment comes at a significant cost of just over $150,000. This was communicated to the Deacons, Trustees and to church membership at the Quarterly Business Conference at which a decision was made to make the repair and to use certain unrestricted funds to cover this cost unless special/designated gifts were received. Several members and friends have expressed a desire to help cover a portion of this cost and made gifts accordingly. Perhaps you would like to do so as well. I will be happy to try and answer any questions you have concerning this project or a special gift to help with this unplanned major expense. This too is a part of sharpening the tool that will enable us to become better equipped to worship the God of love, mercy and grace and to serve this community and beyond through the power and presence of Christ.

I look forward to seeing you this evening as we spend time in fellowship around the table, offer prayers and hear Dr. Roxburgh present some thoughts related to Baptist Spirituality.
